Governance

The key objectives of achieving academic excellence, a high quality reliable delivery system and sound business practice are reflected in the governance arrangements for IVIMEDS. 

Board of Directors
IVIMEDS has been established as a ‘not for profit’ company limited by guarantee.  The Board of the company is responsible for the financial stewardship of IVIMEDS, the employment of key staff and the implementation of the IVIMEDS programme.

Auditors have been appointed to audit the annual report statement of income and expenditure and prepare an annual report of accounts which is made available to all partner schools.

Steering Council
The Members of IVIMEDS Ltd (effectively the owners) are the founding participating medical schools.  The IVIMEDS Steering Council is at the heart of IVIMEDS’ governance arrangements and includes a representative from each of the partner schools.  The Steering Council meets annually and approves educational, technology and business strategy and policy.  It is also consulted between meetings on key appointments to the Executive Team and on major policy decisions in relation to education, technology investment and questions of copyright, licensing and intellectual property.

Executive Team
An executive team with managerial, education and technology expertise takes operational responsibility for the implementation of IVIMEDS.  The team comprises of an Education Director, Technology Director and Project Manager and is responsible to the Board of Directors.
