Is IVIMEDS a virtual medical school where I can study and gain a medical qualification?

No, ivimeds is a member-based organisation specifically for medical and health science schools and teachers who want to collaborate, develop and share resources in e-learning for medical education.  It do NOT grant any degrees.

Why is there a membership and subcriber fee?

IVIMEDS is a not-for-profit group of health science schools. All current software development, maintance, and staff require financial support.  We keep these fees as low as possible.  In fact, the fees have dropped 40% in the past two years and we hope to drop them more by recruiting additional members.

If we join IVIMEDS do we have to use only IVIMEDS learning material?

No.  All IVIMEDS resources and software allow for you to customize learning material to fit your own learning environment.  While some learning modules are "packaged" in flash how you use them is up to you.  Authoring material using our virtual patient authoring tool or Riverside authoring tool allows you total independence with regard to look, developmental level, or professional focus.

We are a school in developing country and can't afford the posted rates.  Is there any reduced rates for developing nations?

If you are in the bottom tertile of World Bank Economic Indicators we are eager to make IVIMEDS work for your institution. While we can not currently offer this tool for free, we will bend over backwards to work with you.  Please contact our staff directly.

If our medical school joins IVIMEDS can other schools at our university use the tool (e.g., nursing school or pharmacy school)?

Absolutely!  One institutional membership (not subscriber) means any number of schools at that one institution can use our tools. 

Can I join IVIMEDS as an individual?

At present, IVIMEDS offers membership only to schools and institutions. Staff and teachers at the member school can then access the resources and tools ivimeds has to offer.  We are studying whether there are ways to provide individuals membership but at present we do not provide this access.
